It is an assisted reproductive technology (ART) commonly called IVF. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a process of fertilization by extracting eggs, retrieving a sperm sample and then manually combination an egg and sperm in an embryology lab in a laboratory dish to fertilize. Once an embryo or embryos form they are placed in the uterus through the cervix. Embryos are generally cultured in the lab for 3 to 5 days. Excess embryos are freezed for future use.
